Tout d’abord on tient à préciser que si on prépare pas correctement ses questions à l’avance, si on n’écrit ou n’enregistre pas correctement les dialogues (qui étaient fort passionnants), si on oublie de demander les choses les plus intéressantes ça donne des nœuds.
Entre « les 30 glorieuses » et « revenons au groupe », l’interview a été fait dans un chaos total. Mais bon c’est le rock’n’roll de l’interview, c’est notre genre, sans queue ni tête. La classe.
Revenons au groupe :
Le groupe, depuis 2012, s’accapare de la liberté, de la face simpliste, fun du punk.
Super hyper énergiques sur scène, ils ont produit un nouvel album « Le Meilleur Album du Monde » (un must-have!), avec des jolies chansons d’amours teintées d’humour et un jeu subtil faisant la signature de notre groupe favori de youpi punk (pourtant on aime rien, c’est bien connu). Allé hop, le rock’n’roll c’était pas mieux avant, sérieux, c’est juste que c’était les 30 glorieuses.
Effello est le chanteur, lead guitariste, auteur-compositeur, leader du groupe quoi ! Il est aussi amateur des Schtroumpfs, il arrive même à l’écrire sans faute, alors que c’est dur, un peu comme Nietzsche. Il joue aussi dans « Effello & Cat », « Edouard Nenez et les Princes de Bretagne« , et « Liliange« .
Il a grandi avec le rock français, bercé par Téléphone, découvre plus tard AC/DC, et après c’est le coup de foudre rock’n’roll avec les Wampas (d’ailleurs il a même remplacé leur guitariste et ils ont fait leur première partie le 6 février dernier, rêve ultime de fan). Tout est clair, le rock’n’roll, la musique c’est pour la vie !
Axel est le rhythm guitariste du groupe, aussi avec quelques solos ici et là (pas trop, c’est pas punk). Il fait aussi les chœurs, préfère les cons aux connards, et il voudrait aussi voir ce que les gens de Mai 68 sont devenus. Il gratte la guitare pour « Louis Lingg & The Bombs » et dit « La scène c’est la où on se libère »
Greg est le batteur du groupe. Après s’être pris la tête avec la pureté du rock’n’roll, il lâche tout et fait parfois des covers sur sa batterie de La Fouine « J’écoute tout les albums de Booba et Kaaris ». De plus il adore l’acoustique des stades, espérons que leur prochain concert sera au stade de France alors! Il joue aussi pour « Louis Lingg & The Bombs » et « Waynard«
Et Arnold, le cadet et le bassiste du groupe était absent !
Bref, même s’ils aiment pas les Beatles, et le ska, vive le youpi punk ! Vive Effello & les Extraterrestres !

Comment définissez vous le genre musical du groupe ?
C’est ce qu’on appelle « youpi punk », un mot qu’on a inventé face à cette manie de catégoriser les styles musicaux. Une façon de se libérer. Il y a ce côté « youpi », joyeux, gai et le rock’n’roll traduit par le mot punk. (Effello)
Trop de groupes se revendiquent de style musical avec des noms prétentieux, presque bordéliques, finissant avec le mot « punk ». (Greg)
Donc vous êtes le seul groupe de youpi punk ?
Il y a des groupes qui font ça, sûrement, mais ils ne l’appellent pas comme ça.
Le nom du groupe Effello & les Extraterrestres, fait-il écho à cette tendance que les groupes avaient dans les années 50/60 de mettre un nom et le groupe, du genre Buddy Holly and the Crickets ou encore Gerry and the Pacemakers ?
Oui et non, en fait y a une référence cinématographique à « Le gendarme et les extraterrestres » (de Jean Giraud). Et c’est aussi comme Tony Truant (Wampas). Finalement c’est une liberté, on peut changer les membres du groupe sans qu’on le remarque, on peut jouer avec différentes personnes (Effello).
Y a t il un côté anecdotique dans les paroles ?
Oui je me bases sur ma vie, et je grandis les traits !(Effello)
Il a un coté cru et extrêmement humoristique dans les paroles, une jeunesse dans la voix et une énergie qui déborde dans la musique. Un coté innocent entre réalité et fantasme. Ces histoires d’amour et l’humour sont vos sujets de prédilection ?
Ce sont des sujets qui viennent naturellement, ce sont des histoires qui m’arrive,et j’ajoute de l’humour.(Effello)
Hum punk et chanson d’amour ça colle pas toujours beaucoup, tu penses pas devenir un peu plus engagé dans tes paroles/musique ?
Il y a quand même un engagement subtil, et on se revendique de la liberté du punk, on se prend pas trop la tête. C’est un peu facile de chanter des trucs engagés devant des gens acquis à ta cause. C’est beaucoup plus dur d’écrire une bonne chanson d’amour qu’une chanson engagée, donc c’est plus intéressant. (Effello)
Personnellement, je trouve qu’il y a côté new wave, et c’est très Buzzcocks. Les Buzzcocks français !

Ouais, John Lennon avait dit que « le rock français c’est comme le vin anglais »… Mais vous réussissez vraiment à faire un son plaisant et puis bon il y a un regain d’amour face à la chanson française, un retour au « french chic».

First of all, we want to precise that if we do not prepare properly our questions, if we do not write or record properly what was said, if we forget to ask the most interesting things, it gives knots.
Between « the glorious thirty » and « let’s go back to the band ! », the interview has been made in chaos.
Anyway, that is the rock’n’roll of the interview, that is our style, the spitting style. So classy.
Let’s go back to the band
Since 2012, the band takes away the freedom, the simplicity, and the fun of punk rock.
Super hyper energetic on stage, their first album « Le Meilleur Album du Monde » (a must have!), is composed, in a sophisticated way, by pretty lovely love songs, a lot of humor, and all of this became the signature of our favorite youpi punk band (though, it’s well known, we like nothing).
Come on, rock’n’roll wasn’t better before, seriously, it was fine just because it was the glorious thirty.
Effello is the singer, the lead guitarist, the song writer of the band, the leader ! He is also a fan of the Smurfs, and you have to know that in french it is hard to write it, (like Nietzsche) and he can do it without checking it, cool. He is also playing for « Effello & Cat », « Edouard Nenez et les Princes de Bretagne« , and « Liliange« .
Anyway, he grew up with french rock, with Telephone as a lullaby, he later discovered AC/DC, and he fell in love with the Wampas (he even replaced the guitarist for a while, and they even were one of the guest band of their gig at the Trianon, the ultimate fan dream). Everything is clear, rock’n’roll, music is the number one passion !
Axel is the rhythm guitarist, he does some solos too (not too much it ain’t very punk). He also do the chorus, he prefers cons (french for cunts,twats) to connards (french for assholes) and he would like to know what May 68′ youth has become.
He also strums his guitar for « Louis Lingg & The Bombs » and says « the stage is where you become free ».
Greg is the drummer of the band. After getting troubled with the level purity of rock’n’roll, he releases himself, and sometimes he even does La Fouine covers on drums, « I listen to every Booba and Kaaris album ». And he loves the acoustic of stadiums, then let’s hope that their next gig is going to be in the Stade de France ! He hits the drums for « Louis Lingg & The Bombs » and « Waynard » too.
And Arnold, the youngest and the bassist of the band was absent !
Anyway, even if they don’t like the Beatles, and ska, long live to youpi punk ! Long live to Effello & les Extraterrestres !

How do you define the musical style of the band ?
We called it « youpi punk », it’s a word that we made up in order to deal with this obssession to absolutely categorize music. It is a way to liberate ourselves. There is this « youpi », funny, happy, side and the rock’n’roll is in the word punk. (Effello)
Too many bands use these pretentious, almost chaotic, names to define their style, and they all end up with « punk ». (Greg)

There are surely other band, but they do not call it like that.

It comes naturally, the stories already happened to me and I add fun to them. (Effello)
Erm, punk and love songs, it is not always working, do you think you are going to be a little bit more engaged in your lyrics ?
There is an engagement, but it is subtil, and we claim punk’s freedom, we are taking things as it comes. It is a bit easy to sing engaged things for people who are already acquired to your fight. It is harder to write a good love song than a protest song, so it is even more interesting. (Effello)
Personnally, I think that there is a new wave style in your music, and it is very Buzzcocks. The french Buzzcocks !
